My recommendation

Walking around the town of Onomichi, its compact size and accessibility makes it a great place for sightseeing.

Speciality

The “Shimanami” area, Strolling around Onomichi, trying “local” delicacies, like Onomichi ramen and Onomichi-yaki(Onomichi`s version of the Japanese savory pan-cake), visiting shrines and temples, Zazen meditation experience, etc.

I’m sure you will be a fan of Onomichi & Mukaishima!!

Born in Yokohama City, Kanagawa prefecture. In high school, I was an exchange student for one year in North Carolina, USA. After graduating from University, I studied in Thailand as an intern in a local organization and learned Thai.

A resident of Onomichi City for over ten years, I enjoy raising my two children in a rich environment with views of the sea and the mountains. I work for several places using my language skills.

I am a qualified regional interpreter guide for Hiroshima Prefecture. I love guiding guests in Onomichi, a town with many Japanese heritage shrines and temples. Strolling through town is a lot of fun, as many of the renovated shops and restaurants each has its own character and design!

The breath-taking view from Mt. Takami, is a picture-perfect scene, encompassing the many islands surrounded by the tranquility of the Seto Inland Sea. The highest mountain in Mukaishima surely is a must-see spot! Many attractive outdoor activities await, including cycling along the Shimanami Kaido, sea kayaking, or stand-up paddle boarding. For a more relaxing experience, Zen meditation is offered at the temples in Onomichi-city. Depending on your interest, I will prepare a special itinerary for you!

“Itsukushima Shrine on Iwashijima” Itsukushima Shrine on Iwashijima, which is connected to Mukaishima by a small bridge. It is recommended as a beautiful spot for the sun set.

“Five Hundred Arhats on Mt. Shirataki in Innoshima” From the summit of Mt. Shirataki in Innoshima, the island next to Mukaishima, you can see the beauty of the islands of Seto-Inland Sea with a 360-degree panorama view. It is also fun to see various expressions of over 500 arhats.
